On 2021-09-13 prop “just realised that there is a category for minecraft speedrunning for more than 1 player” 1. This was speedrun.com’s any% glitchless co-op. The idea took off at once. Kart asked, “maybe all of us should do the co-op Speedrun?” 2, and Suresh, nYx and others wanted in.
By 2021-09-16 the practice began, with Suresh (BotFragx) hosting. “prop host?” he asked, then “ok I host” 3 4. It was an Aternos server for random-seed 1.17.1 practice. The first attempt failed, and Kart’s advice was “restart with setting Cracked on” 5. prop would give OP to only a few people: “give op to you me and necro alone” 6. The chat suggests the reason was that Kart would abuse it.
The serious speedrun never really happened. The plan drifted, and the group ended up playing Bedwars on Jartex. nYx asked, “On jartex?” 7. That detour is told in Bedwars on Jartex. It was a small episode from the days of Axolotl SMP Season 1, but it shows the friends were already trying things together.
