On 20 November 2021, with a shop street rising outside the mall, prop stepped in as landlord and announced how the new Shopping District would work.
The rules, as the chat recorded them:
- Only four plots outside the mall were allowed, handed out first come, first served 1.
- Every plot paid rent, and a plot that stopped paying would be put up for auction.
- Shops could not sprawl. “We cannot have more underground work than your plot,” prop wrote, and no one was allowed to build a floating or underground shop that spilled out of their own plot, in the sky or below it 2.
The first complaints arrived at once. abi had claimed two plots, prop had taken one, and Kart objected. prop’s answer to abi was cheerfully practical: “abi u still have to pay 2 rents tho” 3.
The following day prop added, with some glee, that he was “forcing us to use the meeting room kek” 4.
It was a small piece of bylaw-writing, but it set the tone for the shopping street that followed. Two days earlier, Kira Warns About Free Gold had made it clear the server needed rules for money.
