On 4 November 2023, on ASMP Limbo, prop discovered that his latest Create contraption had gone beyond ordinary misbehaviour. The giant drill had crashed the server, and when it came back, “somehow my contraption duplicated itself” 1.
His first thought was to warn IRIS off. The message went out in capitals:
RED ALERT DO NOT TRY TO ACTIVATE MACHINE 2
and, in case that was not clear enough, “IT SOMEHOW CRASHES SERVER AND THEN ALSO DUPLICATES ITSELF” 3. prop’s instruction was to dismantle the thing.
A few days later he had a working theory. On 8 November he wrote that the problem was that players could open the chest while the drill was in its entity state, which he believed was what brought the server down 4. He added a rule of thumb: do not change the drill’s speed while it is digging.
