By Axolotl SMP Season 2 the comparison had become the server’s self-image. Akshay quoted the “hermitcraft price” for deepslate, and prop declared “we are hermit craft”, then added “but with anarchy”. 3 4 Players were routinely compared to Grian and Mumbo; “and now I’m mumbo”, said Akshay. 5
The envy years
In February 2024, while watching Hermitcraft 10, prop kept saying how much he wanted “a server like this with da bois”. 6 nYx answered that nobody in the group would follow rules or roleplay properly. 7 The feeling has its own page, Hermitcraft Envy.
The benchmark cut both ways. In November 2025, worried he was being too grindy on the Create world, prop watched episode 1 of Hermitcraft and found impulseSV with a beacon, a huge hole and enchanting villagers after three days. 8 9 It reminded him of IRIS’s “prime days” in the OG season: “OG season was something else man”. 10 11
