The Alternate Timeline

After The Fall the newest backups were ruined, and only a copy about twenty days old was safe. On 7 November 2021 kira brought it back. The grief was gone, but so was everything built since, and the friends turned the loss into a story: the Alternate Timeline.

kira had told them he was busy and could not roll back until the following week. ¹ On the day itself abi told him not to push himself if getting every build back was impossible ², and prop said the 20-day-old backup itself “will be good” he thought. ³ kira agreed to bring it back that evening ⁴, saying “I just didn’t want to disappoint yall without trying”. ⁵

He reopened the server with anti-grief changes. Ops were cut to level 1, everyone got carpet /player and /ledger inspect, and backups would be taken every three hours of play. Logins stayed passwordless, but IPs were logged. ⁶

The mood was mixed. SureshxDxD pointed out right away that the “factory and all those stuff” were gone. ⁷ prop posted screenshots of the restored world: “we are back” and “so is that FUCKING MOUNTAIN”, the one he had already cleared once. ^{8 9}

prop’s own write-up cast it as movie magic. Everyone on the server had been sent twenty days into the past, back to the time of the pillager flashback. The bonemeal, witch, cobble and lava farms and the super smelter were all lost. abi briefly wanted to break space-time to recover his witch farm, then dropped it, and players came back with new plans. ¹⁰ The chat also toyed with other in-world explanations, such as nYx’s idea of an asteroid strike ¹¹, before time travel won out as the official story.
