Draining the Ocean Monument

On 2021-08-05 k1R4 found an ocean monument and declared “this is going to be the center of my base”. His plan was to drain a circle of radius 90 around it (“philza only did like 50”). ^{1 2}

The method was sand walls and sponges, one row at a time, sealing holes in the monument as he went. ^{3 4} DeathHack came along and boasted that “those stupid fishes cant touch me”. They could. He died to the guardians, and prop recovered his katana and elytra. ⁵

DeathHack (Levi) helped, finishing a section in about an hour with the promise to complete the rest the next day. ⁶

The monument itself came down on 2021-09-13, using a beacon borrowed from prop. ⁷ On 2021-09-30 kira finished the sand border wall, which took six or seven shulker boxes of sand. ⁸

The result was kira's Ocean Monument Base, a base big enough to see on the Dynmap at max zoom-out, plus kira's Guardian Farm.
