The Missing Structures Crisis

ASMP Earth's real-world map had no villages, ancient cities or sculk, so half of 1.20, and the Warden, were out of reach until prop found fixes.

On 8 July 2023 prop wished aloud that the Earth server could update to 1.20 1. The problem was the map. It had no natural Minecraft structures at all: no villages, outposts, mansions, ancient cities, temples or monuments, and no sculk, so no Warden. Only player builds and the little border walls between countries existed. prop laid it all out in an “ASMP Earth problem” post on 9 July 2. nYx’s first reaction was “So no warden?” 3.

Ideas

The solutions came thick and fast.

  • Kart proposed that an op account place structures at random without revealing the coordinates 4.
  • prop wanted to use the /place command to drop things that were “100% unobtainable” somewhere in the world, accessible to everyone 5.
  • nYx suggested the Mariana Trench as a “Sunken/lost civilization because of some unknown disaster” 6.
  • prop floated an architect role for Snake and keeping only India’s end portal frame.

On 22 July prop put the Carpet Sky Additions mod to a vote in an “ASMP EARTH GIGA POLL”. The mod was built for skyblock, to make every item obtainable 7. The next day he announced new Vanilla Tweaks datapacks, such as Custom Nether Portals, Fast Leaf Decay and Workstation Highlights 8.

The crisis is the backstory to Earth Map Geography: a world where villagers were precious because nobody could find a village.
