ASMP Earth was played on a downloaded map of the real planet, and its quirks became the server’s culture. See ASMP Earth for the world itself.
Missing things. The map had no natural mob spawns 1, and “there is no villages” 2. That turned villagers, food and chickens into prestige resources (and is where the The Missing Structures Crisis came from). It was also generous with ore: “literally every 5 blocks i find gold” 3.
Shared weather. The whole world had the same weather, so it could rain in Japan while it “snows” in Antarctica 4.
Real resource geography. Africa was the richest place for ancient debris and netherite, which made Abishekishere the richest player and cost Japan the title 5. prop’s explanation: “because irl africa is very rich in minerals and such” 6.
Getting around. Travel ran through Nether-roof portals for each country, and the chat filled up with pasted Xaero waypoints like “New Zealand Roof Portal” and “Antarctica Roof Portal” 7 8.
Locations were named by real region, from Africa to Indonesia, Australia and West Europe 9. Antarctica and New Zealand were the best-known nations. Villagers, said prop, could only be found in Antarctica or in “random villages out there somewhere outside the border” 10.
