On 17 March 2024 prop reported, with the calm of a man not yet aware of the damage, that he had “accidentally deleted my copy of the game isntance”. 1 His first consolation was that he had made a recent copy to put on the server, so the loss was not total. 2
The calm lasted about half an hour. Then came “my waypoints”, and soon after, the worse news: “but map also disappeared bro”. 3 4 Everything he had marked and explored on his own client was gone, and he had to re-explore.
kira offered the sympathy of a true friend, relayed through the Discord bridge: “yes fuck your waypoints”. 5 The lesson, as the chat framed it, was to stop leaning on waypoints at all.
It was a small disaster, not a world-changing one, but prop clearly never forgot it. He was still telling people “i accidentally deleted my instance” on 28 March. 6
