On 26 June 2021 kira checked IRIS’s villager and cried foul: “mending for 18 ems” 1. prop calmed things by explaining that there were two mending villagers. The sting stayed, and the hall was soon the subject of the group’s first great trade negotiation.
On 2 July kira said he knew a village. His terms: IRIS gives him enchanted books for free, and he gives the coordinates 2. IRIS bid 3 mending books, then 5, then 8 3, and finally all 15 of his mending books plus three stacks of emeralds a day for sticks from his fletchers. kira wanted a share of a trading hall or iron farm, not “access to my own village.”
The market then swung the other way. On 3 July IRIS demanded “4 diamonds for one book”, which made kira ask “is this guy insane?” 4 5. According to the lore readers, IRIS was sent off to watch Hermitcraft to learn etiquette. By 4 July he had settled on a price that was both fair and legendary: “Every enchant one diamond only da” 6, which led straight into the Enchantment trading boom. See also IRIS the merchant.
