Axolotl News was the Earth server’s newsroom. On 27 June 2023 nYx posted a “Template for Axolotl News”, 1 with credit for the logo going to prop. 2 kira asked for “the axolotl news icon too”, the MS Paint logo that became the brand. 3 Later came an “Axolotl Live” logo strip. (The Axolotl News Is Founded has the founding day.)
The news itself was roleplay built from screenshots. Short wire posts went into a channel that had once been #screenshots and was renamed International News “for comedic reasons”. prop described the second half of the plan: “and then every week we have a newspaper kinda thing”. 4 The weekly paper came out on Sundays.
In practice prop took the pictures and wrote each issue, and nYx made the template. When he forgot the screenshots one week, nYx was soon asking whether he was doing the paper, 5 and prop opened the pages to advertisers: “anyone want to advertise anything in newspaper?” 6 The paper’s own rules are in Axolotl News.
