BlueMap

BlueMap was the server’s live 3D web map, the thing you opened when you could not remember where anyone lived.

It nearly never happened. In July 2021 kira asked, “prop should we get dynmap or bluemap?” and prop answered with a single word: “dynmap” ^{1 2}. (See Dynmap comes to Axolotl.) By the second season, though, the map the friends were passing around was BlueMap, hosted at axolotl.k1r4.dev/map ³. Its natural habitat was the chat message “see map and come”, the standard reply whenever someone asked where to find a base or a teammate ⁴.

Markers did not appear by magic. In early July 2022 prop used the DiscordSRV !console bridge to place a BlueMap marker at every player’s base, with commands like !console bluemap marker create 7 world -787 59 124 N_tize, and used the same channel to manage the whitelist ⁵. The map was only as fresh as its last render. On 10 July 2022 kira noted that “looks like bluemap didnt update yet” ⁶, and the map also served as the group’s tool for hunting down end cities. BlueMap returned in later seasons (BlueMap Goes Live).
