Axolotl SMP Season 4

Axolotl SMP Season 4 was prop’s attempt to go back to basics: plain survival, a handful of client-side mods, and a world so small that nobody could wander off and sulk. It had one shared base, a border designed to prevent the dragon fight, and a very enthusiastic first week. It also had the shortest honeymoon in the museum, because most of the group wandered off to the superhero server before the cherry blossoms had finished loading.

The pitch

On 12 April 2025 a bored prop announced that he was “going to start a new world.” ¹ The rules were short: a small world border to force bases closer together, a border that would grow by 2,000 blocks with every major version update, “and thats it.” ² He opened a test server on a temporary seed, then picked one with a Pale Garden near spawn, which drew an unimpressed “Wtf is all that?” from nYx, though he had already said a different seed would be used at launch. ^{3 4 5} The same day he shared the client modpack, Axolotl_SMP_S4_1.0.0.mrpack, for the Modrinth launcher. ⁶ Later he added that anyone on Tailscale could fetch the files from the group’s own Seafile share. ⁷ The mods were mostly about performance and comfort (see Season 4 Client Mods), and prop loved Distant Horizons enough to call it the “chaddest mod every.” ⁸

Launch day and the shutdown

The server officially launched on 18 April at 09:30, on a random seed that prop pinned in chat: 4983626566757101229. ^{9 10} The border went up at 2000 by 2000, centred on 0,0. ¹¹ It ran on Fabric 1.21.5, behind kira’s Tailscale VPN, with the in-game chat bridged into #mc-chat by the “ASMP Chat” bot. ^{12 13 14}

The first session went too well. prop, nYx and kira (as GlitchSabre) found diamonds and built a Nether portal within hours, so prop declared “progress done for the day” and switched the server off. ¹⁵ The goal was Forced Slow Progression: a Nether ban until the group had built a proper base. ¹⁶ Then came the best trick of the season. The border sat inside the first stronghold ring, so there was no stronghold in the world at all.

One base for everyone

The season’s twist was One Base for Everyone: a real multi-person base rather than one builder and several guests. The first gathering point was the desert village at spawn, and BlueMap soon let everyone watch the explored regions fill in. prop then went on The Hunt for Plains, scouting the whole bordered world for a plains biome and mostly finding forests, swamps and islands. He settled on a “godly” plains patch with cherry blossoms next to the north-west border.

On 21 April he was “packing my shit to move to the new location,” which he pinned as BASE LOCATION at -673, 92, -814. ^{20 21} That day was a big one. kira, prop and IRIS dug into a huge cave with a mineshaft and walked out with “48 diamonds is chad haul,” while IRIS died to nearly everything in it and prop likened him to Hermitcraft’s GoodTimesWithScar. ^{22 23} The 48-Diamond Cave shows what a valuable cave and a fragile friend look like together. The loot went into THE CHEST, and prop’s verdict on the day was “this chest is THE CHEST.” ²⁴ Those who pooled their stuff became the Common Base Household. The next days were about farming. prop cut down a forest by hand, and the cleared land became the Food Island, planted with wheat and potatoes and ringed in sugarcane, which ended the food problem on 22 April. Food Island Finished

The drift

The base only worked if people lived in it, and they did not. By 4 May prop switched the server off with the verdict “nobody even plays the main smp,” promising to leave it off “till we actually play it.” ^{25 26} nYx put it bluntly on 15 May: “face it bro aint no one playing vanilla.” ²⁷ The cause was Vanilla vs. the Superhero Server: Hayan, nYx and others preferred the modded server, and Roundtable Hold, prop’s Elden Ring common-base idea, became a point of friction between the two worlds.

There was a late revival. Saitama (as Akshay7432) joined on 31 May, with Hayan returning and calling dibs on a cherry-blossom base spot, and by 5 June Saitama had set up 1,100 blocks away before learning everyone shared one base. ^{28 29 30} New Arrivals: Akshay7432 and Saitama On 6 June prop finished a villager breeder, pacified a pillager for the future iron farm, and cycled a librarian to Mending in seven minutes. ^{31 32 33 34} (“this game is busted,” he said. ³⁵) See Trading Hall and Villager Breeder.

The quiet end

From 19 June the server began restarting itself, and the ASMP Chat bot kept posting a Discord-MC-Chat update notice. prop could not reach kira’s VPN to turn it off. ^{36 37} The Restart Loop The server was stopped on 21 July, with prop saying “i will turn on when i want to play.” ³⁸ The next day nYx called him selfish for keeping it off. prop said he might “just download the world,” then posted “we are back,” which nYx mocked. ^{39 40 41} prop Goes Singleplayer On 12 September he launched Axolotl SMP Create Edition Season 3 (Axolotl Create Season 3), which moved the group on.

The world did not stay completely buried. On 25 February 2026 kira told a returning IRIS that “we actually just started new vanilla server” and sent him the modpack, though the chat does not make clear whether this is the same world or a successor. ⁴² IRIS Returns and the New Vanilla Server In March, prop was playing on a separate “timecapsule” server (the chat never says it is this world) while kira was away, and kira asked him not to “get max villager setup and finish ender dragon type shi” without him. ^{43 44} The Ghast Rehydration

Legacy

Season 4 never got a dragon fight, and by design it never could. What survived is a set of good ideas: a small border that forces togetherness, a common chest, and a base with a section for everyone. There is also a very pretty view of cherry blossoms in the north-west corner.

Its people were prop, kira, nYx, Saitama and Hayan, plus IRIS (abishek), who died heroically and often, so often that his deaths became their own piece of lore in Abishek the Creeper Magnet. As a server it was a lovely idea that most of the group never quite moved into.
