In late October 2023 the Limbo server developed a quiet fault. prop noticed that “chat messages from minecraft side are not appearing in discord”. 1 For weeks people on Discord could talk into the game, but the game could not talk back.
The cure came in stages. On 27 November prop was reminding kira about “the original bot u were using for mc chat”. 2 On 4 December he gave up on patching: “im restarting server to try to fix this discord bot fuckery”. 3
It worked. A new bridge, labelled “ASMP Chat”, relayed messages in both directions, and prop announced it in capitals (“LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”, “SHIT WORKS”) before adding the verdict of the whole project: “about fucking time”. 4 5 6 He said he would fix the formatting later. The log lines also show the chat running with a “Not Secure” tag.
