On 12 July 2021, after prop and Kart kept dying to their own gear in a dark cave, prop noticed that Kart was carrying ten diamonds. Kart’s first explanation was that mobs drop diamonds. That did not hold up for long.
Kart then owned up: he had duped “like 3 or 4 diamonds using anvil dupe” 1, the 1.17 glitch also described in The Anvil Dupe. prop, ever the diplomat, turned to the server owner and asked whether duping was even allowed 2.
kira gave a one-line ruling, “duping not allowed” 3, and ordered the diamonds destroyed, with the threat “destroy duped diamonds or I swear” 4. The diamonds went into lava, and Kart sulked.
Retold
By 2022, prop was telling the story as a legend: Kart was “caught” at his base, using “that anvil glitch” (rename an item as the anvil is about to break), and the whole thing was “not allowed in the server” 5 6 7.
It is an early entry in the case file on Kart the Duper, and it fixed the rule that duping was off limits on ASMP.
