Before the Axolotl SMP, there was Asphyxi, an older server hosted by GrimWatch. prop remembered “the asphixi thing” 1, and by his later account it was played by him, Grim, Akshay, kira and maybe Snake for a while 2.
It ran on a Raspberry Pi. Kira called it “the longest ever a server ran” 3, mostly because Grim was “just too lazy to turn off the raspi” 4. Prop recalled that everyone died and he quit after abusing creative mode. A proper survival server called “goats” followed, where he built his farms.
By September 2021 prop’s verdict was blunt: “asphyxi nothing compared to amount of work done here” 5. Grim still called them the “og server days” 6.
