Since July 2021 the friends have talked in-game through a proximity voice chat mod, almost certainly Simple Voice Chat. kira told players to “join group vc ingame” 1 and, as someone put it, “press v and join grp” 2. prop shared the Fabric jar with the required mods in the Discord 3. Not everyone was keen: prop sometimes disabled it for lag 4, later mocked “imagine not having vc mod” 5, and some wanted a Discord call instead 6. See Voice Chat Mod Installed.
Sound physics
In February 2023 reverb and echo left prop calling it “hyper realistic immersive” 7. kira found that raising the number of rays used to trace sound made it more accurate 8. For Axolotl Storm, prop added voicechat-forge and noted its full support for Sound Physics Remastered 9. In a group there was no echo 10.
The Return
In The Return, a voice chat group is bridged to the Axolotl Discord voice channel: “we can speak in discord from inside the game” 11. A bot, AxolotlVoice, appears to relay speech into Discord 12. See also Voice Chat Mod Removed, 1.20.6 Restart.
