The Axolotl Storm world was built around one idea, and on 2024-05-04 it finally happened. Talking over the Simple Voice Chat mod, which prop had just got working that evening 1 2, prop and nYx played a session that ended with the Wither Storm loose while the rest of the group was away. The server relayed both advancements, prop’s and nYx’s, within the same moment: Nothing Built Can Last Forever, “Summon the Wither Storm, a mutated Wither capable of mass destruction” 3 4. The pair then went on to gather obsidian, light a Nether portal and break into a fortress 5 6 7, and by 17:30 prop was reporting “wither is here” 8.
When they came back for gravel the Storm had grown. prop’s report came in the chat: “phase 3 wither storm with tractor beam is at our pink wool house door step” 9, the base being the Pink Wool House. They fled to the Nether in a cinematic retreat, and prop summed up the new situation:
we are refugees now 10
Afterwards they decided to add lore to the event 11, with journals for everyone who played while the Storm was alive 12. In the story prop gave DeathHack127, he was left behind and considered missing or dead 13; see also DeathHack127's Escape and Kart's Sacrifice.
