“Veteran City” was prop’s name for the Season 1 shared base otherwise known as Veteran Base, and the name never quite escaped its own pomposity. When prop announced on 27 October 2021 that someone was “part of veteran city now”, kira replied “veteran city lmao I see” 1 2.
The city’s economy ran on villagers. In July 2021 prop sold armour at four diamonds a piece 3, called the hall “our personal trading hall” 4, and the chat started using the word “monopoly” for the veterans’ grip on trade 5. See Veteran Villager Trading Hall and The Veteran Club Is Founded.
The hall also had a side effect. Because it held a villager trading hall, the area counted as a village, so a raid could start in the middle of the base. On 6 October prop explained how: a raid began “because of the villager trading hall in veteran base the area counts as a village” 6, and Suresh had “fucking punched him” when it did 7. The chat suggests the target was a patrol captain, which is how a Bad Omen raid gets started. See The Great Bad Omen Raid.
