Villager Trading Tricks

Villagers were the engine of the friends’ economy, and they collected tricks for them.

Locking and rerolling. In July 2021 prop explained that you lock a villager’s trades by trading once, so they never change afterwards ¹. To reroll a librarian, you simply keep “breaking and placing lecterns” ². In July 2022 that patience produced a villager with Efficiency 5: “i rerolled this villager atleast 60 times before i got eff 5” ³. He then found a second and a third ⁴, and Saitama haggled by offering diamonds, or “deepslate” ⁵.

The cartographer loop. prop and kira used a two-player exploit, passed along from Xisuma. One player rides a boat with the villager and logs off, while the other keeps the trade window open and buys at the old price. They used it on a double-cured cartographer to “bypass the 16 ems” ⁶. A year later prop taught Emperor Sian the money loop: get glass from librarians, make panes, and sell them to cured cartographers at one emerald each ⁷. “Cartographer you atleast 10 to easily profit” ⁸.

Hero of the Village. After the November 2021 raid, Kart discovered that villagers randomly give you gifts, shouting “HERO OF THE VILLAGE AFFECT POG” ⁹. In Season 3 prop used the discounts to buy Efficiency 5 axes and Sharpness 5 ¹⁰, and he also discovered that farmers will trade for apples ¹¹.

The natural home of most of this was the Veteran Villager Trading Hall.
