Axolotl SMP Season 1 opened on 11 July 2021, and by 7 August kira was already typing “Ah shit server is ded” 1. Players had drifted to the community server Hyphae, Hypixel Skyblock, Scrap Mechanic and GTA. Levi said he had “applied from hyphae since this server is dying” 2, asked whether it was even worth hosting 3, and Suresh suggested ending it until 1.18. The chat became a string of “ded server check?” posts.
kira refused to pull the plug: “I will continue until I lose all motivation” 4, having put in too much effort to stop. Even so, from mid-August the server stayed off for weeks. Kart’s “server ded?” went unanswered on 13 August 5, and on 28 August kira admitted “I haven’t turned it on in a long while” 6. When he offered to start it, prop declined to play on limited mobile data, fearing the connection would die mid-flight and he would “fucking fall outta the sky and loose my shit” 7. The screenshots channel went silent for a month.
The revival came in September, when prop got his motivation back from farm-design videos (The Server Reborn and the Nether Hub). On 6 September kira wrote “Turning on the server from tmrw” 8; the service status shows the server running from 12 September 9, and by 13 September posting was back, with kira announcing “the monument is down!” 10.
