Elytra Monopoly

In July 2022 Akshay and Saitama's ancient-city loot turned elytra into a luxury good, and Saitama cheerfully called it "the capitalism".

Event ASMP S2 19 Jul 2022

By 19 July 2022 the Season 2 ancient cities (see Conquest of the Ancient City) were paying out in elytra. Saitama (in-game as Akshay7432) opened the day with “right, got about 5 elytra kek”. 1

He did not keep them for long. He sold Sian two elytra, ten shulker shells and two Swift Sneak I books for 30 diamonds. 2 Later in the day Saitama boasted, “I looted all nearby cities of their elytra”, which is where the day’s quote comes from: the monopoly, the capitalism. 3

kira was unmoved and answered, “horses > elytra this season”. 4

Diamonds were the unit of account, and the deal was priced in them.
