The Veteran Base crew were the players who made the area around Veteran Base their neighbourhood in Axolotl SMP Season 1. The word “veteran” turns up in base and portal names, such as the instruction to “go to veteran portal on nether roof first”. 1
The roster moved around: prop, IRIS (abi, Abishekishere), Suresh and Kart appear most often as the core, with kira and DeathHack127 counted in at times. They shared farms and swapped materials, and projects were jointly owned. prop and abi built a mass system for the super smelter together 2, and by late October prop was asking a crewmate, “u want to make mega base?” 3 In November 2021 he was checking whether Kart was happy basing with him and abi. 4
The base grew fast and paid for it. By October 2021 prop was complaining that it was “getting too laggy” 5, then marvelling that it was “actually now more like a small city”. 6
Among the crew’s best-known works are the Furnace Array, the farms, and the giant clearing project known as The Perimeter.
