Steve was not a friend, exactly. He was a Carpet-mod fake player, a bot who stood wherever the group needed a body online. His first appearance was a single command from kira, ./player Steve spawn, used to keep Nether chunks loaded for the wither skeleton farm. 1 When asked what he was, kira’s answer was short: “its a player bot”. 2 He was accidentally left online more than once, and each time he got a ./player Steve kill. 3
Steve Company
In October 2021 prop and kira put Steve to work clicking lava buckets at the lava farm, and the advancement feed soon credited him with Hot Stuff and Stone Age. 4 5 Abi’s verdict: “now steve owns the factory”. 6 Hence “Steve Company” (see Steve the Bot and the Lava Farm).
The lava incident
The company did not last. IRIS asked for Steve to be kicked because “he killed my lava farm”. 7 Afterwards abi explained what he found: Steve had been lifting lava and placing it outside the farm, “atleast 100 buckets of lava on the hopper”. 8 kira ended the shift with !console player Steve kill. 9
Steve was still useful. As late as 21 October prop was ready to “call in Steve” as the second player needed to run the wither skeleton farm. 10
Alex
Alex was Steve’s counterpart, parked at the wool farm and encased in stairs by prop, collecting 18+ stacks of red wool. 11 At 03:39 on 21 October he picked up the Surge Protector advancement, with no lightning rod involved. 12
