Technoblade Fandom

Long before any statue was built, the friends were fans. In 2021, on Axolotl SMP Season 1, prop wore an awareness ribbon on his Technoblade-themed skin ¹, IRIS noticed another skin (“u have a technoblade skin”) ², and kira summed it up: “Techno is a fking legend” ³. Kart went furthest, wearing the skin and announcing he was “starting to become Technoblade EVEN more” ⁴. See also Skin Swap: Technoblade, Dream and Tommyinnit.

The fandom had rules. On 22 November 2021 prop proposed an “unspoken rule”: whenever the Pigstep disc plays, “everyone shd become technoblade” ^{5 6}. By February 2023 the skin itself was a matter of discipline: Kart had once been handed an “(axolotl-legal) legal warning for using technoblade skin”, and when Fili joked he could “do technoblade too”, prop answered “i will personally come and murder you” ^{7 8}.

It was also a running gag. In August 2022 prop spammed “stop comparing yourself to techno” in chat while DeathHack127 answered “no”, a loop that lasted several minutes ⁹.

After Technoblade’s death in the summer of 2022 the jokes became tributes. The friends mourned him (see Technoblade Mourned, Memorial Proposed), built memorials (Sian's Technoblade Memorial, Technoblade Statue), and fought over them (The Technoblade Statue War). The catchphrase outlived all of it: when someone posted a tribute in June 2023, kira simply replied “technoblade never dies” ¹⁰.
